For Kitchen and Janitorial Supplies

Excellent customer service

"I really enjoy working with Schweppe," begins Glenn Wendtland, Janitorial and Sanitation Manager at the Christ Church of Oak Brook, IL. My customer service representative has handled my account for two years now. I'll start saying something, and she finishes my sentence. Joanne makes sure that I have everything I need and even reminds me of things I should order."

Christ Church has a janitorial staff of twelve. The congregation includes 5,000 members. There are up to three hundred and twenty-five functions every week in the church, including weddings, funerals, meetings, receptions. The janitorial staff is responsible for setting up the requested tables and chairs as well as cleaning up afterwards. This staff is on the job from five in the morning to one in the morning. One woman is responsible only for keeping the fifteen bathrooms spotless.

All paper products and janitorial supplies

Glenn has been ordering all of the church's paper products and janitorial supplies from Schweppe for the past four years. "Before I found Schweppe, I was ordering from several different places. I had to keep close track of purchase orders and deliveries, and I was always running out of things. Now, I talk to Joanne on Thursdays, and I receive just one delivery on Fridays. Schweppe's prices are competitive, and I'm saving money and time by not having to speak with a lot of people and coordinate several deliveries. And I always know that I'm going to get everything I need."

Schweppe specializes in solving problems for its customers. "I'll always ask Joanne if there is a product that can help me with something I'm doing, and she'll make a recommendation," notes Glenn. "For example, we use handheld radios to communicate with each other on the job. Everyone shares them, so when one person gets sick, everyone would get sick. I asked Joanne if she could think of anything they had that would help solve this problem. She suggested we start wiping down the radios with sanitary wipes. As soon as we started using them, people stopped getting sick. It was a great idea."

Commercial kitchen equipment

"About a year ago we completed a major renovation on our church's kitchen. One of the big things we changed was the equipment, most of which had been there since 1956 when the church was built," explains Val McPeak, a former member of the Trustee Board at the Baker Memorial United Methodist Church in St. Charles, IL. "We had been buying our kitchen supplies from Schweppe for several years, so we asked our salesman what kitchen equipment we should buy."

United Methodist has 2,000 members and hosts events during the week that require kitchen service, like Bible studies classes, breakfast meetings, and dinners for the congregation. There are also special seasonal activities, such as the Oktoberfest Pumpkin Patch Buffet. There are only five Church employees: the Pastor, two assistant Pastors, and two secretaries, so most event organizing is done by volunteers.

"Val approached us about buying a stove," remembers Tom Nolan, an equipment salesman at Schweppe. "He told us that the church needed a new one, because the old stove was old, really old. Val gave me exact dimensions, and he told me what features they needed on the stove—a griddle and the number of burners and ovens. Next, I showed him some possibilities, and then we worked together to narrow down the choices."

Helpful sales staff

"Tom was really great about helping to find exactly what I needed. We talked about what features were important for the church, so that I could make the best choice," notes Val.

"We ended up with two choices. I took Val to a local restaurant so he could see the stove and talk to the manager about how they liked it. That's the one he ended up buying," says Nolan.

"I was really happy with the stove we chose. After we bought the stove, someone from the Contract Division at Schweppe came out to our church to install it," explains Val. "We ended up buying some of our other equipment from Schweppe, too, and everything has been just right for our needs."
